Today Is The 91st Birth Anniversary Of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib

Today is the 91st birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangamata was born on 8 August 1930 in the village of Tungipara in the then Gopalganj subdivision. Her nickname was Renu.

Father’s name is Sheikh Zahurul Haque and mother’s name is Hosne Ara Begum. He was the youngest of one brother and two sisters. On the night of 15 August 1975, he was brutally martyred by the assassins of the Father of the Nation.

Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the President. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have given separate statements.

Apart from government programs, various political and social organizations including Awami League and allied organizations have organized tributes, discussion meetings and milad mahfils on the day. On the occasion of the day, Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and other electronic media will broadcast special programs.

Bangladesh gained independence through long struggle and struggle under the leadership of Bangabandhu. Fazilatunnesa Mujib was the inspiration behind this struggle and movement. He followed Bangabandhu’s entire political life like a shadow and became a source of inspiration in his every action.

After the proclamation of the six-point Charter of Liberation of the Bengali Nation, when Bangabandhu was repeatedly living in captivity at the hands of the Pakistani rulers, the leaders and workers of the Awami League at all levels would rush to Fazilatunnesa Mujib. He conveyed to them the different directions of Bangabandhu and inspired them to continue their struggle.

In the Agartala conspiracy case, some insidious conspiracies were hatched to endanger the freedom struggle by releasing Bangabandhu on parole, then Begum Mujib’s firm stand against parole accelerated the liberation struggle of Bengal. Following the ideals of her husband Bangabandhu like a shadow, Begum Mujib has done many risky things in her life, for which she has suffered a lot.

As a result of the dedication, patriotism, visionary thinking, intelligence and courage shown by Begum Mujib in the movement and struggle of the people of this country, she is now holding the seat of Bangamata along with the Father of the Nation. His unique general role in the politics of this country will always be remembered. This majestic woman along with her father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and her family were ruthlessly martyred by the bullets of the murderous circle on 15 August.

On the occasion of the day, the Awami League has organized a memorial service, Koran Khani, Milad and Doa Mahfil at the tomb of Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib at Banani Cemetery at 9 am on Sunday.

Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has called upon the leaders, activists, supporters and well-wishers of all levels of Awami League and allied organizations to observe the birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib with due dignity.
