Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) has arrested models Faria Mahbub Piasa and Maryam Akhter Mau with a large quantity of foreign liquor, yaba and lead.
Police first raided Model Piasa’s house in the capital’s Baridhara around 10pm on Sunday (August 1). He was later arrested at around 12.45 pm and taken to the DB office for questioning.
Meanwhile, detectives raided another model Maryam Akhter Mau’s Babar Road in Mohammadpur, the capital, on information provided by Piyasar. Huge quantities of alcohol were also recovered from his home. Later, Mauke was arrested around 1 pm. He was also taken to the DB office for questioning, police said.
According to the police, the model Piasa and Mau organized a ring. They used to call the aristocracy in the name of the party and take offensive pictures after drinking alcohol and yaba. Later, he would show the picture and blackmail her to get a large sum of money.
Meanwhile, after arresting the two models, Harun-ur-Rashid, Joint Commissioner of the Detective (North) Branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, briefed reporters under the house of Model Mau on Babar Road in Mohammadpur.
He said, ‘They are both members of an organized circle. We have received many blackmail allegations against them. Their homes were raided today to investigate the incidents. Foreign liquor, yaba and lead were found in the houses of the two. There was also a liquor bar in Maui’s house. ‘
The DB official further said, ‘The two arrested models are the queen of the night. They slept during the day and did these activities at night. They used to call the children of aristocratic families home in the name of the party. At home they actually took offensive pictures and videos with them. He later threatened to send the videos and pictures to the victims’ families, blackmailing them and extorting large sums of money.
Regarding the legal process against the detainees, DB Joint-Commissioner Harun-ur-Rashid said, ‘Drugs were found in their homes. As a result, separate cases will be filed against them in Mohammadpur and Gulshan police stations under the Narcotics Control Act. There will also be separate cases against them for blackmailing. An application will be made to the court to remand them in these cases.
Incidentally, in May 2016, two university students were raped at the Raintree Hotel in Banani. Faria Mahabub Piyasar was named in the statement of case filed in that incident.
Piasa first assisted the victims in filing the lawsuit. But the victim had filed a GD against him for threatening to take up the case again.
